A founder's firsthand look at the construction progress at THE SIXTY TWO™ Society — from HVAC and herringbone flooring to wine curation and the details that transform a blueprint into an alpine experience like none other.
Standing in what will soon be THE SIXTY TWO™ Society, I am reminded that the most meaningful places are not simply built—they are crafted, detail by detail, with unwavering intention.
Today marks a pivotal moment in our construction journey. The HVAC systems are fully operational, ensuring that every corner of our space maintains the perfect temperature for year-round comfort at elevation. The herringbone flooring installation is nearing completion—each piece of reclaimed mesquite from a Texas ranch hand-selected and placed with the precision of a master craftsman. This isn't just flooring; it's a foundation of stories, each plank carrying the heritage we're weaving into every surface.
Our wine curation process has reached an extraordinary milestone. Working alongside Doug Frost—Master Sommelier and Master of Wine—we've now selected over 1,500 bottles for our cellar, each chosen not just for its pedigree, but for how it will perform at 8,200 feet of elevation. The climate-controlled wine storage systems are installed and calibrated, ready to house what will become one of Vail's most thoughtfully assembled collections.
The copper bar installation began this week, and witnessing this centerpiece take shape has been nothing short of inspiring. The artisans working with this metal understand that copper isn't just beautiful—it's alive. It will develop a patina that tells the story of every conversation, every celebration, every moment of connection that unfolds within these walls.
Behind the scenes, the details that transform a beautiful space into an unforgettable experience are coming together with remarkable precision. Our custom lighting system—designed by the same team that illuminates some of the world's finest restaurants—has been installed and tested. The result is light that doesn't simply illuminate; it flatters, warms, and creates atmosphere that makes every member feel like they're somewhere truly special.
The kitchen build has reached a crucial phase. Every piece of equipment, from our custom wood-fired grill to our precision induction stations, has been selected to enable our culinary team to create dishes that honor both tradition and innovation. Chef Nicolas Ferreira's vision is taking physical form, with workstations designed for the kind of culinary artistry that earned him Michelin recognition.
Our onyx installation continues to be a source of daily wonder. Sourced from the same quarry that provided stone for some of the world's most prestigious hotels, each slab has been carefully matched and positioned to create a surface that seems to glow from within. When backlit, these walls will create an ambiance that feels both timeless and unmistakably contemporary.
The sound engineering installation is complete, featuring a system that delivers crystal-clear audio throughout the space while ensuring that conversation—the heart of any meaningful club—always remains comfortable and intimate. Music will enhance the experience without overwhelming it.
Our custom millwork and furniture pieces are arriving weekly, each item built by American craftsmen who share our commitment to excellence. From the hand-stitched leather banquettes to the live-edge walnut tables, every surface our members will touch has been chosen to communicate, without words, that they are somewhere exceptional.
The fire pit installation has begun, and I can already envision the conversations that will unfold around this gathering point. Positioned perfectly to capture mountain views while providing intimate seating, this feature will serve as the social heartbeat we've always envisioned.
Perhaps most importantly, our service training protocols are being finalized. Every member of our team understands that hospitality at THE SIXTY TWO™ Society isn't a performance—it's a promise. We're building not just a beautiful space, but a culture of genuine care and attention to detail.
As I walk through these nearly completed spaces each morning, I'm struck by how a vision we've carried for years is becoming tangible reality. The blueprint has given way to a place—a sanctuary at the base of Vail Mountain where Alpine tradition meets contemporary excellence.
Every detail we've obsessed over, from the hand-forged hardware to the custom plateware being finished in Colorado kilns, serves a greater purpose: to create an environment where our Founding Members can experience Vail not just as visitors, but as true insiders.
We remain on schedule for our summer opening, and the remaining Founding Member opportunities continue to draw interest from families who understand that the finest things in life are not stumbled upon—they are deliberately crafted with great love and attention to detail.
With deep pride and anticipation,
Brad Kaemmer
