THE SIXTY TWO™ Society didn't begin with blueprints or renderings — it began with a passionate feeling of connection to Vail, a hometown, and a vision for the kind of place this valley truly deserves.
Every meaningful place has a story; the story of “why” someone even believed it needed to exist in the first place.
THE SIXTY TWO™ Society Vail didn’t begin with blueprints, construction drawings, menus or even architectural renderings; it began with a passionate feeling of connection.
For me, Vail has never simply been the greatest ski destination, it’s been home, my home. I grew up here. I watched this incredible valley evolve from a mountain town into one of the most recognized alpine communities in the world.
Like so many of you, some of my greatest memories were made here—around dinner tables, on chairlifts, walking through the Village during Sunday Farmer’s Market, hiking during an incredible fall foliage day and spending time with the people who faithfully mattered most.
Life eventually took me in new directions. I met Amy, we raised a family, and I built a hospitality career with hundreds of locations, thereby giving me the privilege of working in the restaurant industry at the highest levels, in cherished geography from coast-to-coast.
Along the way, I learned something important, yet very simple about human nature:
“The finest hospitality isn’t defined by luxury, it’s defined by how people feel, both guests and team members.”
No matter where life took us across the country, we always found our way back to Vail to spend time with my parents, lifelong friends and reconnect with the place that truly shaped me and ultimately inspired my career choices. With every family vacation, we watched the Village evolve. Some changes were exciting; others simply reminded us that time has a way of moving on and strategic evolution is not a bad thing.
Yet every time we came back home, we found ourselves asking the same question:
What if there were a way to preserve the nostalgia of the early pioneers who poured their souls into creating the greatest ski resort on the planet? The warmth. The sense of community.
The feeling of the Vail we remembered… while creating something worthy of its future?
What Kind of Place Did Vail Deserve?
A place where friendships grow naturally, where families gather around one table, where every meal—from breakfast before the mountain to dinner after an unforgettable day—is prepared from scratch and shared with people you most enjoy being around.
A place where remarkable hospitality isn’t reserved for just traditional hallmark holidays or special occasions, it’s simply the standard ante. A place where you can begin your day, return throughout it, and always know you are walking into familiar faces. An archived home base of comfort and elegance.
The Genesis of THE SIXTY TWO™
That’s the genesis of how THE SIXTY TWO ultimately began conceptually. Not as another local restaurant business. Not as an exclusive membership type club, but as a vision grandeur. The vision where genuine hospitality and incredible cuisine remain cornerstone to execution.
An idea that slowing down, sharing a meal, and building a like-minded community are luxuries that never go out of style.
Why 1962?
Our name itself is intentionally, not an accidental kitschy play on words, but rather a tribute to Vail’s earliest beginnings. In 1962, the mountain welcomed its very first skiers, forever changing this valley in perpetuity. We chose that year not simply to honor history or naming convention, but to remind ourselves why Vail became so special in the first place: vision, courage, community, conviviality, passion, and the belief that extraordinary places are only created by extraordinary people with extraordinary foresight.
Welcome Home
Today, our family’s hope is simple…. that when you walk through our doors, you don’t feel like you’ve arrived at another dining destination; you instead, feel like you have come home.
Welcome to THE SIXTY TWO™ Society Vail; we will be honored to share these memories with you.
